Kerala Education
Kerala is the first state in India to achieve cent percent literacy .Kerala state provides compulsary school education for all children.People in Kerala attach great importance for education .In female education Kerala is in the forefront among all states of India. School education in Kerala is held in four stages:Primary,Upper primary,secondary and higher secondary.In Kerala there are about 13,000 schools.Every year about 5,000000 children enroll for primary schooling in Kerala.
Primary education is from first standard to fourth ,Number of schools in the primary section comes to about 7000 .Upper primary is from fifth to seventh standard and number of schools in this section is about 3000.Secondary education is from eighth to tenth standard .There are about 1000 goverment schools ,1400 private goverment aided schoolls and 200 unaided schools.Higher secondary education encompasses eleven to twelth standard and this section has three groupings : Higher secondary or Plus two ,Vocational higher secondary and Technical higher secondary.
College education in Kerala includes degree level and Post graduate level for conventional courses like Physics,commerce etc and medical colleges and engineering colleges catering to medical and technical education .There are mainly four universities in Kerala :Kerala university ,Mahatma Gandhi university,Calicut university ,Kannur university .Besides these ,there is Cochin university of science and technology ,Sanskrit university and Agricultural university .Kerala has Indian Institute of management and National Institute of Technology.
